WEM

Wisconsin Emergency Management
Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) coordinates effective disaster response and recovery efforts in support of local governments. Through planning, training and exercising we prepare ourselves, our citizens and response personnel to minimize the loss of lives and property.

WiARES

Wisconsin ARES/RACES
ARES is sponsored by a private, non-profit organization, the American Radio Relay League (our ham radio national organization). RACES is sponsored by the U.S. Government Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is administered in our state by Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM). Our members are Amateur Radio Operators, individually licensed by the Federal Communications Commission. They are trained emergency communicators who have volunteered personal time, skill and equipment to serve in the public interest. The members have taken ICS 100 and IS 700 to be compliant with NIMS and Incident Command requirements for volunteers. Members have also taken the basic weather spotting class from the National Weather Service. Many members have gone far beyond this in their training and/or careers when it comes to public safety and emergency communications training/experience.

Skywarn

NWS SKYWARN
SKYWARN storm spotters are part of the ranks of citizens who form the Nation's first line of defense against severe weather. The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many Americans. To obtain critical weather information, NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS), part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, established SKYWARN速 with partner organizations. SKYWARN速 is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters.
